Bernice A. (Kostelnik) Bitkowski

Bernice A. (Kostelnik) Bitkowski, 76, of White Oak, formerly of Duquesne, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at home. She was born June 17, 1939, in Duquesne, a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Velosky) Kostelnik. She was a graduate of CCAC School of Nursing in 1978 and was a registered nurse at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, loving "Bubba", Eucharistic minister at Christ the Light of the World and St. Joseph parishes in Duquesne and ran a stroke support group for Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of 51 years to the late John R. "Mooney" Bitkowski; and mother of Rege (Rose) Kostelnik, of Grove City, Cheryl (Frank) Clementi, of Somerset, Ken (Beth) Bitkowski, of Wilkins Township, Marci (Michael) Franzetta, of East Pittsburgh, Rob (Jennifer) Bitkowski, of Bethel Park, and the late Joe Bitkowski. She was the beloved grandma "Bubba", to Bill (Charlee), Tony (Amanda), Christy (Lee), Brittany, Daniel (Sarah), Nicholas, Brian, Christopher, Julia and Noah; beloved Nana to Nathan, Joni, Adelyn, Parker, Lindsey, Tom, Tommy and Liam; and also survived by nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, William B. Schleifer, Supervisor, William Brian Schleifer, Funeral Director. A blessing service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Name Church of Christ the Light of the World Parish in Duquesne, with the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, West Mifflin.
