Eugene D. "Gene" Johnson

Eugene D. "Gene" Johnson, 88, of West Mifflin, passed quietly Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, in Kane Regional Center, McKeesport. Born March 8, 1927, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Paul F. and Agnes (Mayer) Johnson. He was a retired Crane operator from U.S. Steel - National Tube Works. He was a member of St. Agnes Church, West Mifflin, where he was a member of the choir and a cantor. He proctored Masses and was a soloist for many weddings and funerals. He also was a member of the American Legion, White Oak, and a member of Duquesne-West Mifflin Knights of Columbus No. 4210, where he was a past grand knight. He also formerly worked at Levine's Hardware in West Mifflin. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to the late Roberta E. (Rupert) Johnson; and father of Pamela (Ronald) Seigh, of West Mifflin; Lynn (Greg) Weber, of West Mifflin, Gene (Lisa) Johnson, of Aliquippa, Lorraine (Anthony) Belavic, of North Huntingdon, Mary Beth (David) Miller, of West Mifflin, and the late James Johnson. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Kenneth (Mary Lou) Johnson, of Florida. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Paul Johnson, Lorena Davis, Francis Johnson and Marlene Spires. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, in the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, William B. Schleifer, supervisor, William Brian Schleifer, funeral director. Parting prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, in the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, West Mifflin, with the Rev.
