Genevieve E. "Jenny" Jakub, 86, of Duquesne, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, in UPMC Magee. Born June 3, 1930, in West Mifflin, she was a daughter of the late Jonathan and Emily (Grant) Brown. Genevieve was a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish, Duquesne. She cleaned the rectory at St. Hedwig and Holy Name churches. She volunteered of her time freely for all church functions, was a member of St. Joseph Confraternity of Christian Mothers and a guild member of the former Rosary Society of Christ the Light of the World Parish. As a breast cancer survivor, she walked in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk. She was a mother to a lot of children. She was the beloved wife of 65 years to Michael R. Jakub; mother of Gary (Virginia Ann "Ginny") Jakub, of Eighty Four, and the late Ramon M. "Jake" (surviving spouse, Donna) Jakub, of West Mifflin; grandmother of Megan (Ryan) Ludwin, Katherine "Katie" (Brian) Buchanan, the late Gary (surviving spouse, Heather) Jakub, Adam (Jill) Jakub, Erika (Michael) Armstrong Jr., Melissa Jakub and Holly Jakub; six great-grandchildren, Sarah Jakub, Kendall and Tyler Ludwin, Max and Jenna Jakub and Malanya Armstrong; sister of Charles Brown, of White Oak, the late Carl, Howard Ralph and John Brown, Ada Miklos and Elizabeth "Sue" Hillegas; aunt of Marcy (Brown) Ziegler; nieces and nephews; and godmother of Eric Ziegler and Kevin Adams. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 10, 2016, and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, in the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, William B. Schleifer, Supervisor, William Brian Schleifer, Funeral Director. Blessing service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Hedwig Church of Christ the Light of the World Parish, Duquesne, with the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski officiating. Interment will be in St. Hedwig Cemetery, West Mifflin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 204 Craft Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
