George J. Balog age 96, of West Mifflin, on January 10, 2016. He was retired from US Steel, Duquesne Works, Blast Furnace. He loved gardening and tinkering. He proudly served his country in the Army during WWII and he was a recipient of a Purple Heart, with an Oak Leaf Cluster. Beloved husband of 64 years to the late Helen Balog; father of Catherine (late David) Denne of West Mifflin and the late Susan Kolechta; father-in-law of William Kolechta of Plano, TX; grandfather of Alexandra Kolechta, Amanda (Denne) Shifflett and her husband, Steven and Nathan Denne; great-grandfather of Ashley and Michelle Shifflett. Visitation Thursday, January 14, 2016, from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. at the MALOY - SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery with Military Honors.
