George C. Baran Jr., 91, of White Oak, formerly of Duquesne and Port Vue, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015 in Riverside Nursing Center. Born Sept. 10, 1924, in McKeesport, he was a son of the late George and Veronica (Hytovik) Baran. He was retired from the B&O Railroad as a trainman conductor with 39 years of service. He attended First Baptist Church, Duquesne. He was his wife volunteered for 39 years for Meals on Wheels. He proudly served his country during World War II in the 8th Army Air Corps. He was the beloved husband of Betty "Joan" (Gross) Baran for 42 years; father of Kenneth (Anne) Baran, of Batesville, Ind.; brother of Marlene (Thomas) Potemra, of White Oak; also nieces and nephews. 
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, William B. Schleifer, Supervisor, William Brian Schleifer, Funeral Director. Funeral will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, in the funeral home, with Pastor Keith Golibie officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Park, with military honors.
