Mike Chervenak, 89, of West Mifflin, formerly of Duquesne, died Saturday, March 5, 2016, in Eldercrest Nursing Center. Born Oct. 15, 1926, in East Deer Township, he was a son of the late George and Mary (Marcin) Chervenak Hodnik. He was a retired first ladleman from U.S. Steel Duquesne Works and a member of Good Shepherd Parish. He proudly served in the Marine Corps during World War II and was a member of the former American Legion in Duquesne. He loved to walk, golf and the Pittsburgh Steelers. His philosophy in life was good food, good drink and good conversation. His daughter would like to give a special thank you to Eldercrest Nursing Center and Bridges Hospice. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores C. "Dolly" (Mashinski) Chervenak; loving father of Chris Chervenak; brother of Jim (Dorothy) Hodnik, of Munhall, and the late George Chervenak; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, in the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, William B. Schleifer, Supervisor, William Brian Schleifer, Funeral Director. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Good Shepherd Parish, with the Rev. Albert J. Semler officiating. Interment will be held in All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery with military honors.
