Robert Eugene Malmberg Sr., 88, of North Huntingdon, formerly of North Braddock, died peacefully Monday, April 25, 2016, at home. He was a son of the late Abin Malmberg and Elsie (Windblad) Malmberg; beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Thomas) Malmberg; loving brother to siblings, Kenneth, Charles "Butch", Viola, Ethel, Doris, Mabel and Mrytel; loving father of Robert E. "Bobby" Malmberg Jr., Gwendolyn Kay (Harold) Lawhorne, Linda Carden, Edmund (Patty) Klingensmith and the late Patricia "Pat" Ellen Valko; father-in-law of Thomas (Mary Anne) Valko Sr.; dear grandfather of Christina (Frankie) LoChiatto, Michelle (David) Colwell, Nicole (Doug) Smith, Summer (Jason Green) Pendro, Thomas Valko Jr., Lisa (Shawn) Stuller, Patricia Csonka, Melissa (Bill Gottschalk) Klingensmith, Amanda (Mark Lovett) Klingensmith and Edmund (Becky Johns) Klingensmith Jr.; also, many great-grandchildren, including Ashley and Steven Phipps and Miabella Green, whom he loved dearly. Robert served in the Navy and retired from PennDOT. He loved to cook, watch the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Penguins and read magazines.
Memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, PA 15642. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2015, at the funeral home with a military honors service to follow at Monongahela Cemetery in North Braddock.
