Seth Jacob Budai, 31, of Owings Mills, Md, formerly of West Mifflin, Pa, was received in the arms of our Lord peacefully Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, with his family at his side. He was born May 24, 1984, in McKeesport, to Paul and Colleen (Daley) Budai, of West Mifflin. He was a school counselor for Winters Mill High School in the Carroll County School District in Westminster, Md. He graduated from West Mifflin High School, where he was a member of their football team and the National Honor Society. He worked a number of years at St. Joseph and Christ the Light of the World parishes and cemeteries during the summers and after college graduation and served as an altar server and usher. The late Father Dennis Colamarino affectionately called Seth "Monsignor". He was an assistant coach at West Mifflin for the junior varsity football team and he also coached freshman football and girls' softball in Maryland. He graduated with honors from The Pennsylvania State University "We Are!" with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. He received his Master of Education for School Counseling with honors from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received a certificate in sports counseling from California University of Pennsylvania. He was a National Board Certified Counselor. He loved the Steelers, Penn State and Cape Cod, where he was married. In the spirit of giving and loving, Seth was an organ donor. He was the beloved husband of Meredith (Bourque) Budai and would have been married three years June 29, 2016. He was the brother of Josh (Gina) Budai, of Havre de Grace, Md.; uncle of Giuliana Budai; son-in-law of Thomas and Jane Bourque, of South Windsor, Conn.; and brother-in-law of Ginnie (Paul) DiSarcina and their children, Matthew "Matty" and Sarah, of Burlington, Mass., and Jeffrey (Amy) Bourque and their children, William, John "Jack" and Andrew, of Londonderry, N.H. He is also survived by his dog, Jackson, and cat, Remmie. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Shirley (George) Daley and James and Alberta (Bost) Budai. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, and Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, PA 15110, 412-466-3300, William B. Schleifer, Supervisor, William Brian Schleifer, Funeral Director. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at St. Joseph Church, in Duquesne, with the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski officiating. Everyone please meet at church. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, West Mifflin. There will also be a memorial service Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at Winters Mill High School in Westminster. Details will follow via social media. Memorial contributions may be made to Seth Jacob Budai Memorial Scholarship, The Community Foundation, 255 Clifton Blvd., Suite 313, Westminster, MD 21157. This scholarship will benefit the students at Winters Mill High School where Seth worked.
