After a valiant battle, Daniel Martich, 85, passed away on Wednesday Aug. 31, 2011. Born August 21, 1926 in Midland, Daniel was the son of the late Jovo and Sava (Buncic) Martich and stepson of the late George Ralich. An avid hunter and gardener, he was the retired owner of Danny’s Café on Kennedy Avenue in Duquesne. Daniel is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 58 years Julia (Medich) at home. He was the loving and supportive father of Dr. Joan Martich (Dr. John Bickerton) of Orlando, FL and Dawna Martich (Michael Egan) of Pleasant Hills. Daniel was also the devoted grandfather for Jacquelyn and Julianne Bickerton; brother of George (Mildred) Martich of Weirton, WV, Milan "Mike" (Mercia) Martich of North Ridge, CA and the late Mary Yandrich; brother-in-law of Marko Yandrich of Bethel Park; uncle to 7 nephews and 4 nieces, and 3 godchildren. Daniel proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War as a Military Policeman. He was also a 32nd degree Master Mason, a member of the Wilson-Joppa Lodge No. 713 of Dravosburg and a member of Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Whitehall. Daniel leaves behind many family and friends in Serbia, Croatia, and Great Britain. Visitation Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday 2-8 p.m. at the MALOY- SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, 915 Kennedy Ave. Duquesne 412-466-3300. Pomen Service will be held on Friday at 6 pm and Masonic Services on Friday at 7 pm. Additional visitation on Saturday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, at which time his Funeral Service will be held. Everyone please meet at the church. Entombment with Military Honors at Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 450 Maxwell Dr. Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
