Obituary

Catherine G. “Kitty” Bialobok age 101, of Duquesne, passed away on July 17, 2020, at home. Born on August 16, 1918, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Marko & Catherine (Roper) Francetic.  During World War II, she worked as a Brinell Operator at U.S. Steel Duquesne Works, testing steel to be used to manufacture 3000 lb. “blockbusters” (bombs) for the war effort.  She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, and its former Confraternity of Christian Mothers.  She was an honorary member of the G.F.W.C. Women’s Club of Duquesne, a member of the American Croatian Club in Duquesne, and a former kitchen volunteer for Meals on Wheels, McKeesport for 17 years.  In her younger days, she liked to roller skate with her brothers at the Palisades in McKeesport and liked to go polka dancing with her husband.  In her twilight years, she enjoyed watching the Steelers and the Pirates, and WVU football and basketball games.  She liked watching movies starring Bing Crosby, Jimmy Stewart, Spencer Tracy, Fred Astaire, and Gene Kelly.  Her favorite music was Big Bands and Classic Country.  She like poached eggs for breakfast, anything made with noodles, and a good cup of freshly brewed coffee...and then maybe a second one.  She prayed the rosary every evening at 7 P.M.  She was the beloved wife of 64 years to the late Stephen J. Bialobok; mother of Stephanie (David Lourie) Bialobok of Metairie, LA, Thomas (Kristin) Bialobok of Portland, OR, and the late Phyllis Bowers (husband, Dr. Doug Bowers, survives); grandmother of Genevieve Bialobok; sister of Evelyn (late Frank) Ravey of Oakmont, late Rose (late Andy) Usko, late Mark Francetic, late George (late Dolores) Francetic, and late Lawrence Francetic.  She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.  The family expresses heart-felt thanks to her many friends and neighbors, as well as her dedicated caregivers, especially Stephanie Hagood and Kimberly McCarrell.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2020 (which would have been her 102nd birthday) from 1-4 P.M. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE 15110, 412-466-3300 where the rosary will be recited at 4:15 P.M. with a Funeral Service to follow with the Rev. Matthew Elanjileth officiating.  The funeral service will be live streamed on the funeral home website  www.maloy-schleiferfuneralhome.com.  Private family burial will be held on Monday, August 17, 2020 in Holy Trinity Cemetery, West Mifflin. Due to current restrictions, the funeral home is limited to 25 visitors in the building at one time. The funeral home staff will be directing visitors upon entry. Masks are required.
