J. Wayne Grooms Jr.

J. Wayne Grooms, Jr., age 53, of Sandston, VA, formerly of West Mifflin, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at home. Born in Pittsburgh on June 22, 1972, he was the son of the late John Wayne Grooms Sr. and the late Cecelia Elaine (Ferencz) Grooms.

He was a co-owner, with his wife Tammy, of In Home Day Care in Sandston, VA. He enjoyed going to yard sales with his wife, being at home with his family, and playing the guitar.

Wayne was the loving husband of Tammy (Thompson) Grooms who he was with for 13 years and married for 8 years. He is survived by his stepchildren Natalie Jones and Alexander Jones; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Bruce and Barb Thompson of Butler, PA; sister-in-law Melissa (Walter) Zacherl of New Mexico; and aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 12:30 until the time of Service at 1:00 p.m., at Christ Lutheran Church, 401 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, with Pastor John Gropp, officiating. Burial will be private to the family in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Mifflin, immediately following the service.
