Jean Eleanor (Higgs) Oliverio

Jean Eleanor (Higgs) Oliverio, beloved wife of Nicholas Oliverio, a match truly made in heaven, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 16, 1939, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late William and Dolores (Blotzer) Higgs. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and James (Bonnie) Higgs and is survived by her sister Beth (Jim) Amber of Delaware, OH.

Jean is survived by and will be greatly missed by her husband of 65 years, Nicholas Oliverio; three sons, William (Joyce) Oliverio of West Mifflin, Nicholas (Debbie) Oliverio of Duquesne and Ralph Oliverio of Duquesne; four daughters, Mary Oliverio of Columbus, OH, Jean (Bill) Ellis of South Park, Elizabeth Oliverio of Whitehall and Therese Oliverio of Duquesne; along with 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish and taught second grade CCD at Holy Name, James Lavelle, and St. Rita’s for more than 25 years. She was a thirty year plus member of the Third Order of Lay Carmelites as well as the director for her chapter.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. SCHLEIFER, SUPERVISOR, WILLIAM BRIAN SCHLEIFER, FUNERAL DIRECTOR, where a Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin, at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. James Bachner officiating. Jean’s family will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Everyone please meet at the cemetery.
