John M. "Jay" Gorda Sr.

John M. “Jay” Gorda Sr., age 67, of Duquesne, passed away on May 1, 2021 at UPMC McKeesport. Born in McKeesport on April 2, 1954, he was the son of the late John and Bertha (Wargo) Gorda. He was a former steelworker at U.S. Steel-Duquesne Works, a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Name Church, a former commandant of the East McKeesport League-Hesse-Waldron Detachment and proudly served his country in the Marine Corps and helped with Toys 4 Tots. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and reminiscing about riding when he couldn’t. He was the husband of the late Terri L. (Marcus) Gorda; father of Richard Gorda, Debra (Sean Patterson) Gorda, John Gorda Jr., Shawn Gorda and Robert Gorda; grandfather of Erik Patterson, Mackenzie Patterson and Adelina Brown; brother of Kathleen M. (Ted Kochina) Schussler, Madeline (late Francis) Salvatore, late Patricia Anderson, late Richard Gorda and late Marian Gorda. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021, from 2-8 p.m., at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. SCHLEIFER, SUPERVISOR, WILLIAM BRIAN SCHLEIFER, FUNERAL DIRECTOR. Blessing Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Conway officiating. Burial will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, with Military Honors.
