John M. Murray age 94, of Scott Twp. formerly of West Mifflin, passed away on August 9, 2020 at Woodcliffe Manor, in Bethel Park. Born in Duquesne on October 6, 1925, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Davin) Murray. He was a retired general superintendent of the Bar Mill at U.S. Steel-Duquesne Works. He was a graduate of Duquesne University in 1943, a member of St. Therese Church of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, the Knights of Columbus #955, the McKeesport Elks, and the Homestead V.F.W. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was the husband of the late Loretta L. (Lynch) Murray; father of
Christopher (Rose) Murray of Scott Twp.; Grandfather of David P. Murray and John M. Murray II; brother of the late Evelyn Morgan & the late Thomas Murray. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 412-466-3300, where a blessing service will be held on Friday, August 14 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese Church, Munhall at 10:00 a.m. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, West Mifflin. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, visitation will be limited to 25 people in the funeral home at one time and masks must be worn.
