John Yevick Obituary

John A. Yevick, age 84, of Duquesne, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Born in McKeesport on September 7, 1936, he was the son of the late Anthony & Emily (Evanko) Yevick. He was a retired letter carrier for the Duquesne Post Office and former parking meter reader for the City of Duquesne.  He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Name Church. John proudly served his county in the Air Force during the Korean War and in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. He is the beloved husband for 56 years to Louise A. (Marchitello) Yevick; father of Cheryl (Raymond) Luffy of Baldwin and Retired M/Sgt. John A. Yevick II (U.S. Air Force retired) of Jupiter, FL; grandfather of Christopher Luffy, Raymond “Trey” Luffy, Nicole Luffy and Tara (Cameron) Simmons; great grandfather of Kamryn Simmons; brother of Jane Stash of Tampa, FL. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021, from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. SCHLEIFER, SUPERVISOR, WILLIAM BRIAN SCHLEIFER, FUNERAL DIRECTOR, where a blessing service will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Name Church, Duquesne, with the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski officiating, followed by the presentation of Military Honors. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, West Mifflin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association-Greater Pittsburgh Chapter or to Cancer Research.
