Obituary

Karen Lee Polakovic, 63, formerly of West Mifflin, passed peacefully on December 9, 2020, in her sleep, from this world to the next. She was the daughter of the late Irene (Matola) and Stephen Francis Polakovic, both of whom she lovingly cared for in their home at the end of their lives. She was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with a degree in Special Education. She made a positive impact on the many children with special needs that she taught throughout her long teaching career.  She also was a massage therapist and instructor. She loved to play the french horn and to sing alto. She was a terrific dancer. She enjoyed reading Nancy Drew books, playing scrabble and taking long walks. She adored her family, especially the children. She is survived by her sisters, Stephanie (Edward) Glazar, Laura (Derek) McNeill, Melissa (Domenic) D’Andrea, brother Mark (Bethanne) Polakovic; many nieces, Sarah, Renee, Allison, Celeste, Mallory and Liliana D’Andrea; nephews, Spencer and Trevor; great nephews, Zach Glazar and Elijah; one great niece, Audrey and many, many, many cousins. Vichnaya Pamyat!  Memorial mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gregory Nazianzen Roman Catholic Church, Zelienople, 16063.
