Margaret C. Traud, age 105, of West Mifflin, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, in Watercrest Senior Living, Myrtle Beach, SC. Born in Duquesne on October 19, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Ilona (Dipko) Merisko.
She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-St. Joseph Church, Duquesne, their former Christian Mothers and former Duquesne Annex Senior Citizens. She was a major Steelers fan, liked to travel and spend time with her granddaughter and great grandsons. She was a “snowbird,” spending winters in Venice, Fl. Margaret truly was a “Rosie Riveter,” working at Christy Park inspecting bombs.
She was the wife of the late Amos Traud, who passed away in 1982; mother of Sandra (late Frank “Frayo”) Bergel of Suffield, OH and Gerald (Mary) Traud of Calabash, NC; and grandmother of Jessica (Dean) Miller and their sons, Declan and Killian Miller. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Cindy Dollins, James Brown, Carolyn Wahley, and Mattie Sauls; step-great great grandchild, Rosalie Swiger; and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Mary (late Joe) Frinsco, Helen (late George) Baran, Michael (late Mary) Merisko, John (late Ann) Merisko, Joseph (late Nellie) Merisko, Paul (late Mary) Merisko, George Merisko and Albert Merisko.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. SCHLEIFER, SUPERVISOR, WILLIAM BRIAN SCHLEIFER AND ALLAN J. WEBER, FUNERAL DIRECTORS. A Blessing Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., in St. Joseph Church, Duquesne, with Rev. James Bachner, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Mifflin.
