William P. “Chip” Chobirko age 95, of West Mifflin, formerly of Duquesne on June 5, 2020 at the Southwestern Veterans Center, Pittsburgh. Born in Duquesne on July 6, 1924, he was the son of the late John & Anna (Yuhas) Chobirko. He was a retired crane operator for over 40 years at U.S. Steel, Duquesne Works. He proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII and received a purple heart. He enjoyed playing cards. He was the beloved husband for 58 years to the late Cecilia M. “Sis” (Bost) Chobirko. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Anna Ondrey, John Chobirko, George Chobirka, Emil Chobirko, Michael Chobirko, Daniel Chobirko, Charles Chobirko, Steve Chobirko, Julia Hoblak & Gerry Lindberg. He is survived by many loving nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 8 from 4-8 p.m. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, where a blessing service will be held on Tuesday, June 9 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dan Sweeney officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery. His family would like to thank the staff at the Southwestern Veterans Center for their kind and compassionate care.
