I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

Now that I am retired, and living far away, in the Poconos, on the eastern end of the state, I had decided to try to reconnect with folks from my past.

Kope came up in conversation in an interest group I belong to on Facebook, dealing with the French and Indian War.

I was sorry to see this announcement of his passing in 2016. He played an important part in my life, even if for only a short period of time.

I never attended North High, but instead went to a boarding school in Hershey, PA. We lived on Utah Avenue between 1968 and 1973. And when I’d come home on vacation and during the year I spent at home working and ‘hanging out’ before starting college at IUP, Kope was always around to take time out to play some pickup football or basketball with the guys from the neighborhood.

I was kind of a small nerdy kid...and so were some of my other local friends. But Dave was just like a big brother to us.

I reminder one episode in 1973, when I caught an elbow to the face during a pickup basketball game on the outside court behind the junior high school. My nose was broken, and he helped get me to the emergency room, since my mother was at work and I had no car.

Also I spent a few times over at his parent’s house with him just watching TV and the like.

I wish I had started looking for him sooner.
He was a great person. Always made us feel important and always wanting to help people.
I was never forget him.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Nancy, Stacey, Kelly, and all,
I am so sorry for your loss. Dave helped Tim out during a time when we were struggling. We never forgot his kindness. Hold onto the hope of being reunited through the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
