Marcella J. Vranick

Marcella J. Vranick, 85, of Duquesne, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, in Family Hospice & Palliative Care, Canterbury Place. Born June 13, 1931, in Jefferson Borough (Coal Valley), she was a daughter of the late Julius and Rose (Plaster) Bertie. She was a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish, Duquesne, the former Duquesne NSOF, the former Christ the Light of the World Rosary Society and the former VFW Post 188 Ladies Auxiliary. She formerly worked at Kennywood Park in the cafeteria. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Vranick. She was the mother of Garalynn Tomas, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Robert (Nancy) Vranick, of West Newton, and the late Randy (surviving spouse, Toni) Vranick, of White Oak; grandmother of Tiffany (Larry Abdullah) Vranick, Vanessa (James Dickerson III) Vranick, Randy Vranick Jr., Ashley and Kaitlin Vranick; great-grandmother of Xavier, Sophia, James IV, Jacob, Luke and Sophie; and sister of Arlene (late Charles) Slate, of Elizabeth Township.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, William B. Schleifer, supervisor, William Brian Schleifer, funeral director. Blessing service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, in the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Hedwig Church of Christ the Light of the World Parish officiated by the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski. Interment in St. Hedwig Cemetery.
