Marie V. "Cathy" Edwards, 86, of West Mifflin, died Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Norbert's Personal Care. Born April 22, 1930, in White Oak, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Viola (Christy) Minteer. She was a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish, in Duquesne. Prior to retirement, she was a lunch room attendant for the West Mifflin School District. She volunteered at Jefferson Hospital for 22 years. Mrs. Edwards enjoyed reading and liked to volunteer her time and talent. She was the beloved wife of the late James Edwards; mother of Christine (Joe) Valentic, of Dumfries, Va., Keith (Faith) Edwards, of West Mifflin, and Lori (Ron) Beyer, of West Mifflin; and sister of Skip "Patty" Minteer, of North Huntingdon, and the late Martha (late Emmett) Hester. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jennifer (Will) Herbert, Jason (Carrie) Edwards, Justin Edwards, Angel (Dan) Stipanovich, Cait (Jeff) Osterritter and Brian Beyer; and four great-grandchildren, Payton Herbert, Kristopher Edwards, Seth Edwards and Emily Stipanovich. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, William B. Schleifer, supervisor, William Brian Schleifer, funeral director. Blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016, in the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Hedwig Church of Christ the Light of the World Parish with the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski as celebrant. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park.
