Albert John "Abbie" Manns, 71, of West Mifflin, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born Aug. 3, 1945, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Albert and Pauline (Palyo) Manns. He was a retired tool and die maker for General Motors in West Mifflin. He attended St. Joseph Church, Duquesne and was a board member of the Mifflin Township Historical Society. He was a member of the Jefferson Hills Historical Society and the McKeesport Heritage Center, and he proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Mary Lou (Protz) Manns; father of Heather Manns, of West Mifflin, Sarah (Daniel) Burns, of Ellwood City, and Ethan Manns, of Pittsburgh; brother of Gregor (Shirley) Manns, of Irwin, Paula (David) Niedoba, of Unity Township; and brother-in-law of Nancy (James) Gregris, of Irwin, and Phyllis (Larry) Tomblin, of Poplar Grove, Ill. He was the uncle of loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, William B. Schleiefer, Supervisor, William Brian Schleifer Funeral Director. A blessing service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski officiating, where military honors will be accorded.
